The best rooms rarely happen all at once. They build over years, through a mix of old and new, inherited and discovered, practical and personal.
This month, we spoke with five Central Indiana interior designers about what that kind of home actually looks like in practice, and no two answers landed the same way. One starts with architecture, another with pattern, another with the history already built into a house. What ties them together isn't a shared style but a shared instinct. Nothing is accidental, and nothing looks like it arrived in a single trip to the showroom. What emerges instead is something less manufactured and much more interesting to live in—homes that read like a story, one choice at a time, by the people who actually live there.
