Scuba Diving
Near: France Park, Logansport, Indiana Explore underwater mysteries in the old limestone quarry at France Park, one of the most popular diving locations in the state. Reaching 30-feet in depth, divers can find a 1940’s school bus, an airplane, and maybe even a giant paddlefish, a primitive fish species reaching 6 feet long and weighing up to 200 pounds. Rock Climbing
Near: North Mass Boulder, Indianapolis, Indiana There might not be mountains in Indiana, but you can get started rock climbing indoors at North Mass Boulder, a world-class bouldering facility with more than 60 rotating courses, saunas, a café and co-working space. Far: Red River Gorge, Slade, Kentucky Located 60 miles southeast of Lexington, Kentucky, Red River Gorge offers world-renowned rock climbing. The expansive area features more routes than imaginable with everything from crags to overhangs along the epic sandstone. If you visit, be sure to stop by Miguel’s Pizza, the epicenter of the Red River Gorge climbing scene. |
